There’s not much as far a history goes behind this traditional pattern, named after the small fishing village, Machadadorp.
Designed to imitate mayfly nymphs that are about to hatch breaking out of their shucks near the water surface.
Fish it on a floating line with a long leader and a slow retrieve when there are mayflies on the surface.
An often forgotten fly, but works well in the Mpumalanga areas in Spring and Autumn.
