The Mrs Simpson is arguably the most popular of the Killer patterns, The Purple Lady been another variant of this fly.

It is as a “must-have” for fishing the lakes, streams and rivers of South Africa.

The name is said to originate in the era of King Edward VIII, who chose to step down from the throne in order to marry Mrs Simpson; implying that if Mrs Simpson could lure a king away from his throne than a trout would be an easy feat!

Tied with rump cock pheasant feathers with a red underbelly and purple marabou tail to be fished in the deeper sections of the dam.

In larger sizes they represent small baitfish and smaller sizes anything from a baitfish to nymph.
