A highly rated flats fly that imitates the mantis or ‘snapping’ shrimp.
At spawning time, some shrimp species exhibit an orange egg mass, imitated by the orange yarn on this fly. The fly has a lot of movement with long rubber legs and 2 black flashabou antenna, representing a shrimp trying to flee it prey.
The smaller sizes are great for bonefish and the larger ones work for Permit and even Golden Trevally. A must-have for any flats box. Designed to be fished on the bottom like most crustacean patterns, if you were fishing the flats we would recommend fishing this fly on a floating line, vary your leader length based on how skittish your target species is, and retrieve with long slow draws.
