The Black Zulu is a pattern with a less certain history, the colour combination is said to come from headdresses worn by Chief Cetawayo, a Zulu King in the 1870's and 1880's. Regardless of the origins, its become a widely used fly across the world and still proves effective today. It can be fished as an attractor with a trailing nymph, natural or streamer. Or it can be fished on its own. Although smaller than most streamers, the contrast of the fly means it can be fished in low light or stained water with success. Its also proven to be an effective pattern for targeting carp.
